LAAS
was created by a couple guys who love motocross. Over the years
we found other sports to keep us busy when there wasn't a place
to ride or the weather was too cold. The bottom line is, a lot of
these other sports wouldn't be the way they are without the influence
of motocross.
For example, look at the following sports.
BoarderX (Snowboarding) - It now has courses that
combine motocross and supercross and have jumps nearly as big. Last
year, thanks to park building extraordinaire, Stimilon International,
the US Open in Stratton, VT had a 50-60 foot gap that riders launched
at least 20 feet in the air off of and rails that would make a supercross
track builder jealous.
BMX - It did start a long time
ago, but is obviously a pedaling version of Moto.
Downhill Mountain Biking (DH) - It is
more like enduro, but has transformed the sport of mountain biking
from a group of thirty-somethings out for a ride in the park to
a hard core group of speed junkies who race down ski mountains on
$5000 bicycles with over 8" of travel. One of our favorites.
Skateboarding - It really hasn't been influenced by moto
at all, but we like it.
